Another Star Wars Puzzler

While checking out the key scenes of Return of the Jedi to see the continuity between the two trilogies, I realized another obvious inconsistency. Lucas made the decision to replace the old Anakin with Hayden Christensen in the final scene:

If Anakin shows up as his younger self, why the heck are Obi-Wan and Yoda still old? If you can answer that for me, you get a gold star.

That irritates me, too. But mostly because they've tainted the original Trilogy with Hayden's mug.

Dude, obviously because Anakin "died" and Darth Vader was "born" when Anakin was that age. The other guys didn't really die until they were old.

What an amateur.

Hey Pan, sit down for an education.

Episode VI is called Return of the Jedi, referring to Anakin. He returned when he sacrificed himself for his son by tossing the Emperor down the shaft. He then ceased to be Darth Vader, and returned to his orginal identity as a Jedi, Anakin Skywalker.

So when he dies, he dies as a Jedi.

The worst tainting of that scene wasn't Hayden's mug, but the slightly audible "Wheeza free!" when they scan over Naboo during the celebration montage. Yuck.

I think it was Lucas' FU to all the fans that bitched about Jar Jar.

No, you can only die once. He died when he was young.

He didn't die. He simply went away, then returned, as the title explicitly states.

The biggest travesty is Greedo shooting first in Episode IV. That was heinous.

in my opinion Chang...ur thinking too much...(stanford is overrated o_O).
Obi-Wan's function in all the movies is as the mentor figure toward Anakin and Luke so the producers probably wanted to preserve his wisdom by keeping Obi-Wan old because age=wisdom. PLUS he redeemed himself for Anakin's failure with Luke's success so his "prime" is when he got older
Yoda-...looks the same consistently...plus it would've taken a lot more effort to change the little white hairs than just leaving it alone *god you're nit picky*
Plus...it takes a lot of effort to recreate the scene so why go through all that effort and money for a small little detail? stupid Chang =P

If it's so much effort and money for such a small detail, then why did they do it for Anakin?

Not teaching logic up there at UDub, huh? ;)

Lucas was trying to create more continuity between the trilogies, and in the process, he created a disconnect. Oh well.

haha nobody really knew who the ghost Anakin was...especially since you only got to see him as an egghead right before he died. There's a weak schema for what Darth Vader really looked like in the old version so they used Hayden because everybody knows he's Darth Vader. I dunno, i see continuity where u see disconnect so i think this might go on for a while =D
