Back in the states
Yes, I'm back home in the good ol' USA (yes, Hawaii is a state...) :)
Wow, it's been a whirlwind this past month with finals and 2 weeks in Japan. I actually have one more week off before I start my summer stuff. I'll be in the Geriatrics program for the rest of my summer, in which I'll be shadowing various doctors, attending some didactic sessions, and doing research. I got a Medical Student Summer Research Training in Aging scholarship and will be looking into Parkinson's Disease and depression. And I guess I should be studying for boards already?
And Chang, Hubert, and Ruth will be coming to visit me this weekend, which should be lots of fun :) My high school buds, Jackie and Lisa, are also home for a bit, so I'll be hanging out with them, too.
Japan was awesome. Chang and I are still collecting our pics, and we'll put up the interesting ones as soon as we can. But here are some in the meantime:
Can you see Mount Fuji in the clouds?

My parents and I in a greenhouse

The Golden Pavilion in Kyoto

Deer (thankfully not nibbling me) at Nara

The Great Buddha (I think the statue is the biggest in Japan)

Another deer hiding among the stone lanterns

Himeji Castle

View of Hiroshima Castle from our hotel room

A Bomb in Hiroshima

Flame of peace (with the A Bomb in the background)

Watch that stopped at the time of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima

Shrine at Miyajima Island

Hi, Gina! You put in a weblog entry! Looks like you got to go check out quite a few places while you were in Japan. I can't wait to go again. Mt. Fuji is impossible to see. I'll try my best to get a picture of it when we go in October.
did you guys eat katsu curry in japan? did the same plumbing fate befall anyone else or just chang?
don't study for boards yet
Aw...I want to come to Hawaii! Oh well - didn't buy my plane ticket in time, now it's ridiculously expensive. That's ok - I'll have to come another time when I actually have time off. =)
I was planning on going to Hawaii too, but I couldn't get my passport in time. Maybe next time.
Nice deer pictures. :p
Woohoo!! Hawaii!!!
Yeah, I gotta remember to bring my passport...
silly boys.
gina, i love that picture of you with those two deers!!! :)
Heehee...Russ, please try to get a better pic of Mt.Fuji for me! Where will you be going in Japan? I actually had fried oyster curry which was pretty yummy. My parents and I didn't have any problems with GI stuff. Come any time, Lisa! Poop on you, Napa boy.
Gina, you can use higher resolution pics!
Don't worry about Napa boy, he's been pooping on himself plenty. Something's in the air, I tell ya.
So glad you guys had a great time! I can't believe you guys went to the Begonia Gardens...I went there 10 years ago! Pretty exciting, huh? :P
Hey Joanne! Is that what the place was called? By Mount Fuji? I couldn't read the name since it was in Japanese. It also had a lot of different owls. Is this the place? :)
isn't there a Hakone National Park that you can see mt.fuji from?
Hey Jer! Yeah, Hakone is the one you went to, right? We had family friends, so we went to Kawaguchiko instead which is on the opposite side of Mount Fuji from Hakone.
